Acre Boutique hotels and attractions

By: Shir Petel (shirpetel@)

Not many know but Acre is among the best culinary cities we have in Israel. It is one of the most magical, touristy and ancient cities in the country. I have already visited Acre several times and still, every time I come to visit, I have the feeling that it was not enough.
This time I came to pick for you the top five places you cannot miss in this beautiful old city.

Boutique hotels in Acre, where to sleep?
The first place you should not miss is the Akotika Hotel which is located among the picturesque alleys of Acre in front of the spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea. Tamar and Meir, the owners of the hotel, decided to incorporate the authenticity and color of Acre in the design of the hotel. The hotel is an accurate and perfect combination of new and old. Everything is tastefully decorated down to the last items, at the same time the hotel retains the story that started many years ago, preserves the history of the magical Acre, and provides a different and special hospitality experience. The hotel suites are scattered in the alleys and maintain a similar but different design line between them. How can this be you ask? Come visit and see for yourself.

The second place you should definitely not miss is the Effendi Hotel. The Effendi Hotel is actually one complete journey into the fascinating history of Acre.

The amazing hotel in its beauty is actually the vision of the owner Uri Jeremias. Years of construction and restoration have made the Effendi Hotel one of the most lovable places in Israel.

When viewed from the outside no one can guess that a whole world is hidden behind the entrance doors located between the alleys of Acre: painted ceilings designed with unique decorations for the Ottoman period, preserved wooden ceilings six meters high, sunny spaces with views of the Old City and the sea, a spa complex, a Turkish bath, a crazy roof, mesmerizing rooms and many other surprises await you inside this different and special hotel in Acre.

Where to eat?

“Uri Buri” – Remember Uri from the Effendi Hotel? This is exactly the same famous Uri from the well-known and famous fish restaurant “Uri Buri”. For years, the restaurant has been a place of pilgrimage for all lovers of food and cuisine. If you are a part of them and have not yet gotten to know the restaurant, this is exactly the time to visit it! Uri Buri is one of the best restaurants in Israel and earn the title of one of the best restaurants in the world for 2019.

The restaurant specializes in fresh, seasonal and carefully made fish and seafood. The kitchen offers a varied menu and caters to both vegetarians and vegans. And in fact, there is no one who will not find his favorite dish in a restaurant. The restaurant provides an appetizing menu as well as a tasting menu which is one big adventure for those of us who are debating what to choose or those who want to indulge.

Almarsa Restaurant – A chef’s restaurant specializing in Mediterranean food that combines traditional Arab cuisine with modern cuisine. The restaurant is located in the most perfect location in Acre – in the fishing port right in front of the sea and brings the aromas of the sea directly to the plate in front of a mesmerizing panoramic view of the fishing boats and the old city walls.
Beyond that, we really enjoyed meeting Hamudi Bergot, the owner of the place (along with his brother Marwan) and hearing their success story with the restaurant, the dishes were just one big culinary celebration. The food was fresh and I was also surprised by the special look that combines Arab cuisine with the chef’s modern training. The menu includes special, surprising dishes and includes dishes with unconventional combinations.

Attraction in the city

Cooking workshop at Beit Alfrasha – a place founded by women, inspired by women and for women. The Alfrasha House (Butterfly House) was founded by Katie Ruff who dreamed of opening a center where local women would share their love of local cuisine along with guests from Israel and around the world. Her ambition was to allow visitors to Acre to be more than “tourists for a day” through a direct meeting with the locals who make Acre special. Therefore, Katie chose a group of women, inspiring cooks from Acre to deliver private workshops that are heartwarming culinary and social experiences.
Four hours where you will learn to cook local food with an emphasis on the special dishes of the Akko cuisine and while you will get to know the group members and create new friendships. Highly recommended workshop – one of the most fun experiences you have ever had with a friend / girlfriend / spouse / partner / family.

Discover Alegra Boutique Hotel and Ein Karem

Discover Alegra Boutique Hotel and Ein Karem

By: Miriam (@talesofisrael)

Have you ever heard of the village Ein Karem in the Jerusalem mountains? This artistic and culturally significant village is now a neighborhood of Jerusalem and in my opinion the ultimate hidden gem to enjoy a day trip or weekend getaway. Ein Karem is is an interesting mix of art galleries, amazing chef restaurants, breathtaking views and monasteries. Moreover, it has a bohemian vibe with some of the most picturesque streets in Jerusalem! Especially in January and February, it is a dream with all the almond trees blossoming.

When visiting Ein Karem, I recommend you stay at Boutique Hotel Alegra. It’s one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in the country, with stunning, characteristic rooms, a rooftop with the best views in Ein Karem and a garden with sauna’s. Their breakfast is served in a nearby bistro and trust me – that alone is worth visiting Ein Karem!

Discover Akotika Boutique Hotel and the city of old Acre

Discover Akotika Boutique Hotel and the city of old Acre

By: Sapir & Daniel (@dream.salty)

There is a special something that every boutique hotel has, I can’t quite explain what it is, but when you get there, you will feel it straight away.
The homely, intimate atmosphere, the attention to the smallest details, the emphasis on the unique design, and of course the service, are some of the parameters that give the hotel the title – boutique. Akotika Boutique Hotel is just that. Located in the heart of Old Acre, everything is within walking distance. You can walk around the market or get lost in the picturesque alleys of Old Acre.

The uniqueness of the hotel is its scattering along several alleys throughout the city. Each suite in a different place, like a small apartment. The suites are located in old buildings that have been renovated and preserved, and each suite is different and has its own uniqueness. Each building has a number of suites and a shared space for everyone. Some of the buildings have 4-5 suites and some have one suite. Each suite is different, with a different design, a different atmosphere and different treats for the guests. Some suites have a heated pool, some have a jacuzzi and some have a stunning lounge with huge windows overlooking the sea.
Our suite was warm and fun, we had a luxurious bed, a comfortable armchair, and an entire bathroom made of antique stones. The shower was large and luxurious, with 2 separate taps next to each other, that way we could shower together but each chose how hot the water would be and which stream to use. (This is the dream, isn’t it?) The other highlight in the shower was an oven – a large oven that heats up quickly and in a second the whole shower was pleasant and fun.

Villa Jasmin – A tropical gem in the Galil

Villa Jasmin – A tropical gem in the Galil

By: Or Zano (@or.zano)

I visited quite a few hotels and accommodation sites in Israel and around the world, and I realized that I prefer the small, authentic places, with interesting people and fascinating stories, Jasmine Estate, a Boutique Hotel in the Golan Heights, is just one of those places, full of character, unique details, and accurate food!
We arrived at sunset to a spacious stone house that looks like it had been taken from a pastoral town in southern Italy, we were greeted with a wide smile by Tamar, who offered us fresh handmade delicacies, and began to tell us about the place…

This is a boutique complex, which includes five spacious suites, each of which is characterized by a classic, spacious and clean design, and includes a private Jacuzzi (huge !!). In the courtyard of the estate, you will find a beautiful pool surrounded by green vegetation and bright colors flowers overlooking a spectacular panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee, a shared outdoor Jacuzzi, inside the forest !! and a sauna in a unique ecological construction that looks like a designed Turkish bath. Oh, and yes, you can rent the entire estate to a group of friends or family vacation and enjoy a particularly pampering, intimate vacation. Later on, Tamar accompanied us to our suite, where a variety of fun treats awaited us, such as a set of lotions from a local spa brand, wine, a fruit bowl, and homemade cookies. We, of course, immediately filled up the huge Jacuzzi and decided to stay in it until hunger strikes.

Discover Maskit Estate, a botique hotel in Liman

Discover Maskit Estate, a botique hotel in Liman

By: Liri Reinman (@_traveliri)

Maskit Estate is a boutique hotel in Moshav Liman, but the word “estate” describes it most accurately – a secluded location that provides perfect intimacy, vast green areas, citrus trees surrounding, and a feeling reminiscent of mansions in Tuscany or France. From the moment the wide estate gate slowly opened and our vehicle advanced towards the parking lot, on the path surrounded by citrus trees, we began to feel the magic of the place. This is a beautiful, prestigious, and romantic suite complex, from the moment you arrive you do not want to leave this perfect place.

From the parking lot, we walked under a vine gate towards the lobby, and then the beautiful mosaic pool was revealed to us. We then discovered the tastefully designed lounge and the heated indoor pool that pictures can convey only a little of its beauty. After all this beauty you arrive at your private villa (one of 4 in the place) This is one of the most beautiful suites in the country, a spacious room decorated in a luxurious and unique style, without a doubt a lot of thought and attention was paid to the small details. Every detail in the room looks as if it has been carefully chosen – from the pictures on the wall to the decorations on the table. The bed is large and luxurious, and above it, there is a wide window that overlooks the tropical vegetation outside and creates an atmosphere of vacation in the East. If I already mentioned East – from the bathroom there is an exit to the backyard with an amazing outdoor shower just like in Bali. The villa is surrounded by a fenced and spacious private courtyard, where there is a lovely sitting area, the perfect location for a good glass of wine.

Discover The Schumacher Hotel. Boutique Hotel in Haifa

Discover The Schumacher Hotel. Boutique Hotel in Haifa

By: Romi Drach (@romi_drach)

Haifa, my beautiful hometown, is full of green landscapes and blue sea. Downtown Haifa has become a center of attraction for young people, full of restaurants, bars, boutique cafes, workshops and colorful markets. All of these, combined with the preserved ancient buildings and the proximity to the port, make Haifa in general and downtown Haifa, in particular, the most surprising city in the country.

Take a walk in a small and picturesque alley near the German Colony in Haifa, and you will arrive at the Schumacher Hotel. The hotel is located in a magical Templar building that has been restored and preserved alongside a new building. Upon entering the gate you will feel a complete detachment from the city. A stone floor and a fairytale floral garden will lead you to the reception, where they will welcome you and make you feel at home. The hotel staff, from the receptionist to the hotel managers, are without a doubt what makes this place so special. In the tastefully decorated lounge, you can have your breakfast or enjoy the afternoon happy hour with champagne and snacks. The view from the rooms is either overlooking the Haifa port or the impressive Baha’i Gardens. The hotel offers pampering spa treatments and it also has a charming rooftop sundeck with seating areas. When staying at a boutique hotel in Haifa there are quite a few attractions to visit – the German Colony, Wadi Nissans, the Turkish Market, and the Port of Haifa.

Discover Dona Castle Boutique Hotel on the Sea of Galilee

Discover Dona Castle Boutique Hotel on the Sea of Galilee

By: Ifat Cohen (@ifatchencohen)

I can finally admit it wholeheartedly – how great is this opportunity to fall in love with Israel again, to return to the places I traveled as a child as a girl scout. Discover new places and be impressed by the way tourism has developed here in recent years. I Understood that you do not have to board a plane to feel abroad.

In all my travels in Israel and around the world, I have never encountered a unique and rare hotel like Dona Castle. A stunning boutique hotel on the Sea of Galilee built inside an ancient fortress from 1745. This impressive piece of history is one of the only buildings preserved in its entirety as part of the wall that surrounded Tiberias. In the past, the citadel hosted honorable guests and the halls of the knights preserved on the lower floor of the fort. This magic is felt at every corner, and upon entering the fortress – I got the feeling that I had entered an ancient and fascinating legend.
The hotel has six rooms, each of which is beautifully decorated, spacious and beautiful. The attention to detail is extraordinary to me. Breakfast at the hotel was wonderful, pampering and delicious, and the view of the Sea of Galilee makes your heart expand. But without a doubt, the ultimate treat the hotel has to offer is a huge pampering bath. Each room has a beautiful and luxurious bath, and what can be more relaxing and fun than a long dip after a day of traveling, eating good food, and discovering rich history?
