Today, The Drisco presents a truly authentic glimpse of Tel Aviv’s diverse past, combined with its ever-evolving present.
The hotel’s chic design is the creative work of architect and interior designer Ari Shaltiel. THE DRISCO HOTEL
Auerbach St 6, Tel Aviv-Yafo

THE STORY

The Drisco Hotel’s story is more of a fascinating journey of luxury and elegance, beginning on September 22, 1866. On that day, 40 American families, including the Drisco brothers, arrived at the Jaffa port after a long and exhausting voyage across the ocean. While most of the other families to arrive dappled in the agricultural industry, the Drisco brothers dreamed of building a hotel in the newly founded American Colony.
One of the properties they purchased would soon become the world-renowned Jerusalem Hotel. Considered one of the greatest hotels in the region until 1940, the Jerusalem Hotel hosted writers, army generals, and royalty including Mark Twin, General Allenby, and German Emperor Wilhelm II. However, multiple wars soon caused the building to be abandoned, burned, and neglected for decades. It was only in 2018, after over 10 years of rigorous restoration work that this hotel was able to be reopened. Known today as The Drisco Hotel, in honor of the legacy of its American founders, you will be sure to experience the glory and glamor of the hotel’s history together with the luxury and comfort of its present.

INK HOTEL
14 Brenner st.
Tel Aviv-Yafo

THE STORY

The historic address of Brenner 14 originally housed a Yiddish public library and bookstore. Established in the 1950’s by political figures, Zionist leaders and civilians, it was regarded as the epicenter of Yiddish literature and culture for decades.

When the task of conceptualizing INK Hotel fell into the hands of acclaimed architect Yoav Messer, he took inspiration from the property’s literary roots, designing the facade to resemble a stack of weighty books piled at one’s bedside.
Inside, the space is sprinkled with more thoughtful nods to the location’s history. The lobby contains a collection of vintage ink bottles, while paint-splattered and font-themed wallpaper adorn the room walls. Of course, the hotel’s name, INK, is the ultimate acknowledgment of the property’s essential literary past.

DEBRAH BROWN
Ben Yehuda 87
Tel Aviv

THE STORY

The Deborah Hotel was established in young Tel Aviv in 1964 by Shraga Feibel and Menachem Mendel Knoll. The Knoll family, originally from Galicia, moved to Austria after World War I and after the Nazis rose to power and the events of Kristallnacht fled to Caracas, Venezuela, where they helped establish the Jewish community and themselves as successful businessmen. Twenty years later, the brothers immigrated to Israel and settled in Tel Aviv, where they established the first strictly kosher luxury hotel in the city – the Deborah Hotel, named after their mother.

Upon its construction, the building was considered one of the tallest in Tel Aviv, and even starred in the international magazine TIME.

THE STORY

The love story of Alegra and Jabra Francis, Ein Kerem’s most famous royal and controversial couple, is the inspiration for this hotel’s design. Their daring romance of the 1920s began when a Jewish young woman named Alegra fell in love with an Arab-Christian man named Jabra Francis. They chose to defy their families and run away together to marry in secret. Their family house, which locals refer to as the “House of the Jewish Girl”, was converted into Alegra Boutique Hotel. Even a century after the famous love affair, Alegra Boutique Hotel continues to be a symbol of romance and unconventional bravery.
The spectacular design of “Lavan Architects” gives the hotel an exclusive atmosphere and each room was created with a unique touch. Influenced by oriental motifs and designed with delicate precision, every corner of the hotel will give you a small glimpse of the beauty of Jerusalem and Ein Kerem.

VILLA BROWN
Ha-Nevi'im St 54, Jerusalem

THE STORY

What better location to create one of Jerusalem’s finest boutique hotels than a 19th century private villa? Belonging to a local, respected doctor and a famous socialite of the era, this villa was not only used as a private residence, but also as a venue to host receptions, balls, and extravagant dinner parties. Jerusalem’s elite society, diplomats, and dignitaries graced these hallways and celebrated in these corridors.

While constructing Villa Brown, to ensure that the spirit of this villa was not lost, Jerusalem-based architects Galit Shifman, Bar-Natan, and Michal Cohen Magen were hired to completely restore the villa (adding in two additional floors and a spa) while retaining its original charm and character. The design of the hotel was inspired by the connection between East and West and the eclectic nature of the “Israeli melting pot” culture and design. Bright shades of red, emerald, and blue are fused together in perfect harmony throughout the hotel’s stunning décor.

PEREH HOTEL
Beit ha-mekhes, Ramat HaGolan

THE STORY

The resort is located on the ruins of the French Customs House buildings, established in 1919. But the story of “Pereh” begins even earlier, in 1916, when two of the main figures in the Middle East met in its day: the British Sir Mark Sykes, a key figure in shaping British policy in the Middle East and François Georges-Picot, Consul of France in Beirut. At the same historic meeting, the two formed and signed the “Sykes-Picot Agreement”.

In 1967 the Bauhaus buildings in the French Customs House were abandoned and have since stood desolate, until recently when a bold vision, created “Pereh” out of the ruins. The buildings have been renovated, designed, and polished to perfection.

EFENDI, AN EXCLUSIVE LUXURY HOTEL IN AKKO

The Perfect Blend of Past, Present, and Future. Conveying a Stylish and Intimate Ambiance of Serenity.

Nestled in the picturesque, narrow alleyways of Acre, the Efendi Hotel overlooks the historic city walls and the magnificent Mediterranean Sea. Two ancient houses, each with hundreds of years of history stored within their walls, were combined to form the unique structure of this hotel. Meticulously reconstructed and merged into one building, they were then converted into a beautiful boutique hotel.
Each room in the hotel is fully equipped and designed with its own unique style and character. Some feature ornate, painted ceilings and others overlook the Old City of Acre, the mountains of the Western Galilee, or the Mediterranean Sea. Looking for a little indulgence? Don’t miss the 400-year-old Turkish bath that has been painstakingly preserved to provide a fully relaxing experience or the cozy wine bar built in renovated wine cellar dating back to the Crusader era.

THE EFENDI HOTEL
Louis IX St, Old Acre

THE STORY

The Efendi hotel is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream long held by Uri Jeremias, chef, and proprietor of the famed Uri Buri restaurant. Complex preservation and restoration work over a period of eight years brought about this breathtaking pearl of a hotel, a true labor of love. Each and every detail of the preservation work was performed under the supervision of the Antiquities Authority and artisans were specially flown in from Italy to undertake the delicate work of restoring the unique ceilings of the building. One of the most amazing aspects that was found at the site is a stunning fresco (mural) of the city of Istanbul dating back to 1878. It was originally created in honor of the new Orient Express train station in the area.

Efendi was the title of the wealthy Ottoman rulers of the 19th century, famous for living in magnificent and extravagant villas. In the past, the two houses that created this hotel were both Efendi residences, beautiful and stylish , a testament to Acre’s unique history and diverse cultural background.
Efendi Hotel captures the spirit of Acre, the smell of the fresh sea air, the ancient stones and historic dwellings, and the stunning scenery. The final result? An experience that far exceeds what you could ever imagine.
