THE STORY
A revival of history. The Post Hostel is located on the top floor of the historic central Jerusalem Post Office. Built between 1934-1938, during the British Mandate, this unique architectural monument integrates both international style as well as traditional Jerusalem designs. Originally home to the Palestine Post, Telegraph & Telephone, and the Jerusalem Central Telephone Exchange, it serves as the city’s central post office to this day.
The building’s exterior is a perfect expression of its history, containing pieces of different eras and cultures. Seven arches line the main entrance, some of which were originally used as little windows to sell postage stamps. English, Hebrew, and Arabic writing can be seen etched within them, a testament to the fusion of cultures in this unique place. The Post is like a time capsule to the past, that all the while remains up to date and in tune with the hustle and bustle of the modern city.
