Adults-Only Hotel in Northern Israel: How to Choose the Right One

An adults-only hotel in northern Israel isn’t one kind of place. It might be a room with a jacuzzi facing Mount Hermon, a suite tucked into a stone alley of Old Akko, or a room looking out at the Bahai Gardens in Haifa. OAKS, the boutique hotel on the Golan Heights, is one of the clearest examples of this category: a hotel explicitly defined as adults only, sitting in Buq’ata among oak forests, orchards and Hermon views. OAKS isn’t alone on this list, though, and before booking it’s worth knowing what actually changes from one property to the next: location, the age policy in practice, and what the day itself looks like between meals.

Location first: the north isn’t one place

The Golan Heights is a story of forests, orchards and Hermon views. OAKS sits in Buq’ata, a boutique spa hotel with 41 rooms and suites, some with private saunas built into the room. Pereh Hotel spreads across eight dunams in a wilder stretch of the plateau, set on a hillside at the Beit HaMehes HaElyon address, with 27 rooms and suites.

Old Akko offers a completely different experience: stone alleys, a wall facing the sea, and a market that has outlasted several eras. Two properties in the collection sit inside it. Akotika Akko is scattered across the alleys themselves, in suites that each read as their own story, while Efendi Hotel Akko looks out at the walls and the sea from a building restored over roughly 8.5 years, with five room types up to a presidential suite.

In Haifa, The Schumacher Haifa sits in the heart of the picturesque German Colony, in a restored Templar building alongside a newer one, with views of the Carmel, the Bahai Gardens and Haifa port. The hotel has 40 rooms and suites.

And for a different kind of landscape entirely, not sea and not old stone, there’s Rom Farm on Mount Kamon in the Galilee, at the end of a dirt road not far from Karmiel: a working goat farm of nearly 40 years that grew into a glamping site with four tent types.

Age policy: when a northern hotel is truly adults only

Not every couples-oriented hotel is officially adults only, and it’s worth checking before booking rather than after. OAKS and Pereh Hotel are the two that state it outright: both Golan Heights properties are defined as adults-only hotels, though Pereh Hotel reserves the right to host children on holidays and dates it sets in advance.

Akotika Akko welcomes guests aged 16 and up only, a strict policy but a slightly different one from the two Golan hotels. The Schumacher Haifa defines itself as suited to couples only, with children over 12 accepted by prior arrangement, a policy aimed mainly at couples but leaving some room.

Efendi Hotel Akko carries no formal age policy, but its atmosphere, between a 400-year-old hammam and a Crusader-era wine cellar, speaks mainly to couples seeking quiet and intimacy. Rom Farm, by contrast, is not an adults-only property at all: one of its tent types, the Lotus Bell, allows extra mattresses for two children, making it suitable for families looking for a Galilee glamping break as well.

The pampering in between: spa, wine and rooftops

Once location and age policy line up, what’s left to check is how the day itself unfolds. At OAKS there’s an advanced spa complex, a beauty clinic for cosmetic treatments and styling, a year-round pool, and the Lusper chef restaurant, serving premium cuts from a Josper oven, alongside a bar on the hotel’s roof.

Pereh Hotel offers a different combination: an infinity pool, a wine cellar, a jacuzzi and a dry sauna, alongside the Rouge restaurant, serving contemporary cooking inspired by the region, with vegetables and meats from the Golan and artisanal cheeses. Check-in starts at 3pm, and from 5pm on Saturdays.

At Akotika Akko, inside Old Akko itself, there’s a wellness area with body treatments and a lounge, and a rooftop restaurant facing the old wall and the Mediterranean, serving an Akko-Galilean breakfast, alongside the LIWA bar. At Efendi Hotel Akko, also in the old city, there’s a couples’ treatment room, an original 400-year-old Turkish hammam entered by treatment booking only, a Crusader-era wine cellar with an intimate wine bar, and the internationally awarded Uri Buri restaurant.

At The Schumacher Haifa, the experience centers on the roof: two rooftops overlooking the Haifa port and the Carmel mountains, a nightly happy hour in the lounge from 7pm, and a coffee and tea station open all day. At Rom Farm, the pampering looks entirely different: a farm-to-table bistro led by chef Nadav Kornfeld, built on the farm’s own goat cheeses and vegetables grown on site, alongside yoga classes and spa treatments available at the farm.

All of these hotels were chosen for the Unique Hotels collection for their distinct character and genuine connection to place, and booking with each one goes directly through the hotel, at its own rate, with no added fee.

Frequently asked questions

Which northern hotel is the clearest example of adults only?

OAKS on the Golan Heights and Pereh Hotel, also on the Golan Heights, are the two properties in the collection officially defined as adults-only hotels. Both combine a spa, a pool and chef-led dining; Pereh Hotel reserves the right to host children on holidays and dates it chooses in advance.

What’s the difference between Akotika Akko and Efendi Hotel Akko, both in Old Akko?

Akotika Akko welcomes guests aged 16 and up only, as a stated policy. Efendi Hotel Akko has no formal age policy, but its setup, including a hammam and a couples’ spa room, is built mainly around couples.

Is The Schumacher Haifa suitable for families with older kids?

The Schumacher Haifa defines itself as suited to couples only, but accepts children over 12 by prior arrangement. That’s different from a strict adults-only policy, so it’s worth confirming directly with the hotel before booking.

Can you check prices and availability without paying a booking fee?

Yes. Booking at every hotel in the collection goes directly through the hotel, at its own rate, and Unique Hotels does not charge any additional fee on the booking.

Is Rom Farm an adults-only property?

No. Rom Farm on Mount Kamon in the Galilee is a glamping resort that welcomes families too, and one of its tent types, the Lotus Bell, allows extra mattresses for two children.
